At Noosa Hinterland Dental Pomona, we combine advanced digital technology with artistry to restore your smile in just one appointment. Using the CEREC system, we design, mill, and fit your custom ceramic crown right here in the practice — no temporary crowns, no second visits, and no waiting weeks for a lab to deliver your final result.

What Are Dental Crowns and Who Needs Them?

Dental crowns are custom-fitted caps placed over a damaged or decayed tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. They are ideal for patients with cracked, weakened, or severely decayed teeth, and also serve as a final step for other procedures, such as root canals or dental implants. Crowns can also be used for cosmetic purposes, improving the look of misshapen or discolored teeth.

Why Choose a Same-Day Dental Crown?

  • Precision and Comfort:
Your tooth is digitally scanned with a 3D intraoral scanner — no messy impressions — creating an exact digital model for your new crown.

  • Durable Ceramic Material:
Crafted from high-strength ceramic that mimics the translucency and wear resistance of natural enamel.

  • Time-Saving Convenience:
Complete your entire treatment in one visit, so you can get back to your life with a beautiful, healthy smile — today.

  • No Temporary Crowns or Second Injections:
You leave with your permanent crown securely bonded and ready to go.

How Does the Same Day Dental Crown Procedure Work?

1. Digital Scan:
We start by capturing a precise 3D image of your tooth and bite.

2.Design:
Your dentist digitally designs your crown for an ideal fit and natural appearance.

3. Milling:
The design is sent to our in-house milling unit, where your crown is sculpted from a solid ceramic block in around 15-30 minutes.

4. Glazing & Bonding:
The crown is polished, colour-matched, and bonded to your tooth the same day — with no need for a temporary or return visit.

Total appointment time: Approximately 2-3 hours at our Pomona location.

Don’t worry — you won’t be sitting in the dental chair that whole time!

While your custom crown is being precision-milled and glazed in our on-site CEREC system, you’re free to stretch your legs, grab a coffee, take a short walk through Pomona village, or simply relax in our lounge. By the time you return, your new crown will be ready to bond — beautifully fitted and polished, all in the same visit.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Crowns

With proper care and maintenance, dental crowns can last for a very long time, with a statistically average lifespan of 15 years.  Many well-maintained crowns last decades.

Discomfort is minimal. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia to ensure a pain-free experience.

Whilst the surface of the crown is impervious to decay, if not properly cared for, the margin where the crown meets the tooth can deteriorate and suffer decay and cavitation, which is why excellent home care and maintaining regular checkups with your dentist is so important.  The same applies to natural teeth.

Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are essential.  Like natural teeth, extremely hard foods and damaging habits like nail-biting, chewing ice and cutting materials such as fishing line with your teeth and crowns is discouraged and can cause damage, however modern crowns are extremely strong and you are expected to be able to maintain a full diet after treatment.

We offer various options, including glass ceramic, zirconia, gold, and metal alloys, depending on the tooth’s location, the functional and aesthetic requirements and your preference.  In contemporary dentistry, Zirconia crowns are often used for back teeth as they are twice as strong as glass ceramic crowns such as e.max.

Some dental crowns like those made from glass ceramic can be made and inserted on the same day.  Stronger crowns used for back teeth are typically made from Zirconia, and require a long time to prepare thus, they are often not able to be made in a day.  Zirconia crowns are used for their improved physical properties – with twice the compressive strength as glass ceramic and superior antibacterial surface texture; they are the ideal, most durable and long-lasting option for back teeth.  Such crowns are best made in a dental laboratory by a skilled ceramist.
